Beneath the surface of what most of us see in our daily lives, an unseen world of sex slavery affects millions of people each year. According to the International Labour Organization, over 20.9 million adults and children are victims of commercial sexual servitude and forced labor, and of those, only 0.4% have been identified. If nothing changes, the future isn’t pretty—the sex slavery industry is the fastest growing criminal enterprise.
Speak up for those who can’t speak out, and take off the mask. This November, join us in wiping away the makeup, and recognize your natural beauty! In a world where over-sexualization and photoshopped fantasies are the norm, it’s no wonder that we have failed to prevent an unjust and cruel industry from spreading.
TELL YOUR STORY
Do you have something to say? The world wants your story.
Whether you’ve experienced sexual slavery firsthand, have a secondhand account, or have had a unique experience as a result of participating in No Makeup November, we want to hear it.
We can share statistics about how more than 2 million children are exploited every year, and we can share facts about how it’s estimated that 161 countries are affected by human trafficking— but to many, those are just numbers. Your real stories are important in providing perspective to the general public. No matter how big or small, your story is part of the dialogue.
Making an impact begins with raising awareness.
“Raising awareness” is a term that can get thrown around a lot, but what does it really mean? Most of the time, creating change and making progress can take some serious funding. We have big plans for 2015 to promote charities who are actively working to bring an end to sex slavery. In the meantime, we encourage you to research sex slavery charities and donate to aid their efforts.
The more resources and funding charities have, the more of an impact they can make.
If you are represent a charity and would like to partner with us for next year, please
